Seen Paul McCartney, George Harrison & Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon & Julian Lennon live. Paul McCartney tour rehearsals, Live 8, seen too many to mention Beatles tribute bands, been to Beatles Conventions worldwide, Beatle Week in Liverpool is a must! Attended Beatles days all over the U.K.
Been to premieres including, Ecce Cor Meum, The Liverpool Oratorio, Standing Stone, Yellow Submarine. pre opening night exhibitions for Robert Whittaker & Klaus Voorman.
Cd launches for Driving Rain & Chaos & Creation in the Backyard. Seen numerous Merseybeat bands & met many new (Beatles) friends
We also make regular visits to Liverpool to take in the live music scene (Beatles & non Beatles) and if a ‘do’ is going, we’ll be there!
HISTORY
The first Beatles Club meeting was on 11th June 1991 at Brannigans Bar in the Royal Exchange on Cross Street in Manchester.
After three years we moved for a one meeting stay at the now also defunct Sports Bar on Market Street but unfortunately the promises from the landlord never materialised, when we returned for a second meeting our room was full of fruit!
A 25 month stay in the back room at the Millstone pub on Thomas Street was ended when we became aware we were becoming less welcome when last orders were being called at 9pm!
From October 1996 to January 1997 we were upstairs at the Town Hall Tavern, big screen video was great but in February 1997 we moved on to the other Tavern in the town on Bridge Street which came to an end in September 1997, we think the landlord got fed up with carrying the television upstairs!
Since October 1997 we’ve been resident upstairs at Mother Mac's pub in Back Piccadilly, we have our own room, all our own gear and Les & Marie make us very welcome.
We have been running for 15 years, we’re proud to say in all that time and the moves around Manchester we have never missed a monthly meeting.
