After the success of A Hard Day's Night, Beatles manager Brian Epstein was approached by Tony Warren who had written a script about the Mersey Ferries called Ferry Cross The Mersey. The idea was to make Gerry & the Pacemakers film stars  & also utilise other Merseybeat artists including successful chart acts Cilla Black & The Fourmost.

The film & soundtrack LP was originally released in 1965 and then a digi pak release appeared in 1997 featuring mono & stereo versions of the original album.

Ferry Cross The Mersey Remastered & Expanded lives up to its name featuring the original 12 track album plus a colossal 16 bonus tracks.

The bonus tracks feature two unreleased tracks 'That Feeling' by The Black Knights & a 'no strings' version of Ferry Cross the Mersey plus three songs in mono & stereo from the US version of the LP 'I Gotta Woman' by The Black Knights, Shake A Tail Feather by Earl Royce & the Olympics & 'Why Don't You Love Me' by The Blackwells.

The remainder are from original Columbia single releases by artists featured in the film.

So this album is a fairly complete record of the Ferry Cross The Mersey soundtrack & an essential buy for Merseybeat fans.
